I had a fun and delicious time at Sushi Arai today, enjoying great conversations and the delightful taste of their sushi.◇ Mitsuba Aburaage simmered in dashi◇ Mako-garei (flatfish) and Aichi-torigai (clam)◇ Yamaguchi Akau (red sea urchin)◇ Nidaiko (two-spotted crab)◇ Suika Narazuke (pickled watermelon) and Ankimo (monkfish liver)◇ Iwashikuji (sweetfish) grilled with white amadai (sweet sea bream)◇ Watarigani (blue crab) marinated in Shaoxing wine◆ Funka Bay Chutoro (medium fatty tuna)◆ Sakai Port Chutoro◆ Maguro (tuna)◆ Kohada (gizzard shad)◆ Sumiika (cuttlefish)◆ Tai (sea bream)◆ Hon-Ara (true sea bream)◆ Kuruma Ebi (Japanese tiger prawn)◆ Yuriage Akagai (red clam)◆ Aji (horse mackerel)◇ Shijimi Soup (clam soup)◆ Daisen Murasaki Uni (purple sea urchin)I couldn't resist ordering some wine as well. It may raise the bill, but the satisfaction is top-notch. Sushi Arai will be closed in July and August as they head to America, but their apprentices will keep things going in the meantime.
