One of the traditional events listed in the seasonal calendar is the "Chinowa Kuguri" (passing through the sacred grass ring). Every June, a large circular chinowa is prepared in front of the restaurant. Customers pass through the chinowa before entering, embodying the "Nagoshi no Harae" ritual, which symbolizes purification and prayers for good health before their meal. The seasonal calendar is also incorporated into Japanese cuisine, serving as wisdom passed down to reset the mind and body at each seasonal milestone, encouraging a mindful way of living.Mr. Kitajima not only teaches about the changing seasons of Kamakura through his dishes but also incorporates events like the chinowa kuguri into his cuisine, adding color to ancient traditions.I am once again humbled by the depth, respect, and richness of Japanese culture. m(_ _)mIt was a great meal!
