I recently attended the summer tea gathering at Suikouan, a place I have been fond of for a long time. Last year during the first tea ceremony, everyone was in kimono, and my husband and I felt a bit out of place. However, this year, everyone was dressed casually. Ishida-san mentioned that he wants everyone to enjoy the tea, and I highly recommend it to those who haven't been yet. While there are many places that offer tea ceremonies, Suikouan is unique in that it has a dedicated tea space, a master who understands the art of tea, and an impressive collection of tea utensils borrowed from Kyoto, all thanks to Ishida-san. He previously managed tea ceremonies while serving as the sous-chef at Arashiyama Kichijo, and they continue to receive great acclaim. The menu includes classic dishes available at night, as well as some that are exclusive to lunch, leaving me completely satisfied and full. Plus, the prices are more affordable than at night, which is an added bonus. I highly recommend it. It was a great meal!
