I finally had the chance to have lunch at TOUR D'ARGENT, located in the New Otani Hotel. On this day, my friend asked where I wanted to go for my birthday celebration, and I requested this place (laughs). The approach to the main dining area was impressive, featuring historical antiques displayed like a museum.Upon entering the dining room, I was greeted by a gorgeous atmosphere. I was seated near the chandelier rather than by the window. The clientele was diverse, ranging from elderly groups to young women and men, showcasing a wide age range. Men were required to wear jackets as part of the dress code.I requested a wine pairing with the lunch course, which included three glasses: champagne, white wine, and red wine.We toasted with champagne, HENRIO, which was well-chilled, rich, fresh, and delicious. The baguette was hard and served with butter.LANGUES D'OURSINS • Nioise-style spaghetti squash with sea urchin espuma The first dish was a salad, and the sea urchin espuma was rich and creamy.CÉLERI-RAVE • Refreshing celeriac velouté The soup was poured at the table, and it had a delicate aroma and smooth texture.LOUP DE MER • Grilled sea bass with black olive sauce The sea bass had a beautiful sear, and the saltiness from the squid ink and black olive sauce was just to my liking.CANETON • Roasted duckling with hazelnut sauce The signature duck dish was numbered, with crispy skin that was elastic and incredibly juicy. I received a certificate for the numbering.I also ordered a grapefruit crepe, which was flambéed with cognac right in front of me. It had a pleasantly bitter, adult flavor.MELON • Melon and watermelon mojito with hibiscus sorbet This dessert combined two types of melon with watermelon granita, making it refreshing and not heavy at all.• Fresh herbal tea and small sweets After the meal, I moved to the waiting room for drinks and was seated on a sofa with a view of the arched bridge by the window. I enjoyed multiple refills of the fresh herbal tea and realized I was the last customer left.On my way out, a staff member kindly explained the antique items in the restaurant, which increased my appreciation for the place. I learned that during dinner, there would be live piano music, and a French pianist was already warming up, so I felt fortunate to hear a piece before leaving the restaurant with a sense of nostalgia.I can't come here often, but I hope to return someday.
