【Number of Visits: 1】I wanted to indulge in the dessert wagon! So, I made a reservation through Tabelog for my first visit to this renowned grand maison famous for its dessert wagon. I appreciated that I could reserve just a seat and decide on the course based on the menu of the day. This restaurant has a dress code requiring men to wear jackets, but if you forget, they can lend you one! There are also other dress code rules, such as no sneakers, so make sure to dress nicely.Even the most affordable course at JPY 9,900 includes the dessert wagon, which is the most reasonable option if you’re primarily after the desserts. However, I felt that the number of dishes would be lacking, so I opted for the JPY 16,500 course instead. For the appetizer, we could choose between white asparagus with potato velouté or rabbit with mushrooms, and we chose the rabbit. The fish dish was sakura trout in a coulibiac (puff pastry), and the main was pan-seared veal. All the dishes had a classic and rich flavor. We started with a glass of champagne, followed by white wine for my companion and red wine for me. The wine prices were quite steep, with glass wines priced at JPY 3,300 or JPY 4,400.After a small crème brûlée, the moment we had been waiting for arrived: the dessert wagon! I chose a strawberry tart, chocolate cake, pineapple roll cake, and tarte Tatin. The tarte Tatin was served warm on a separate plate. My companion ordered pudding and gelato, and when I tasted the white asparagus gelato, I was surprised by how much the flavor of white asparagus came through. It tasted more like an appetizer than a dessert! The petit fours consisted of six different types, one of each for the two of us, so we shared them amicably. The total bill, including mineral water and service charge, came to JPY 55,809 for two. I look forward to returning when I want to enjoy the dessert wagon at this grand maison.
