Several long and trying years have passed since I first met Chef @masako_morishita cooking up delicious yakitori in a tiny kitchen in the Brookland neighborhood. She’s come so far since then. She’s in command of her own kitchen now and knocking out one terrific seasonal special after another. This is in addition to her sturdy foundation of crowd-pleasing dishes that have become menu favorites 🤤😋

What hasn’t changed about Masako is her fiercely proud Japanese heart and a deep desire to share her culture and food with the national capital region. Her cuisine is imbued with memories of her homeland as well as the culinary influences of the women in her family from earlier generations. She’s now building a new legacy for a diverse American audience 🇯🇵 🇺🇸

I’ll let local influencers tell you all about the hidden gems they’ve discovered. I’m much more interested in talking about the human ones inside those places. If you haven’t already met Chef Masako, you definitely should come visit @perrysdc and ask for her. You’ll make at least three people happy: me, her, and of course, yourself 😃
