Recommended bowl: Super shrimpy

You can smell the shrimp a block away as you approach this spot, and sure enough there is an enormous shrimp at the entrance as you arrive. Gonokami Seisakujo specializes in shrimp tsukemen, with thick, chewy house-made noodles. The soup is bursting with shrimp umami and contains tomato as well. The bowls are served with cabbage, and there are other flavor options available, like miso and pesto. Run by Itsuki, a ramen shop located deep in the Tokyo outskirts. There are five to ten shops in this group, all of them specializing in seafood-based soups. Every month on the 29th is ‘niku no hi,’ which basically translates to meat day — a special dish with extra chashu is offered. Open since 2010.
